Lucky

This dog knows where to sit when Gabi eats her eggs. Luck dog.
Gabi wanted to bake a cake (this is pudding, she doesn't know the difference). This is what life is all about... letting your 2 year old turn on the mixer and lick the beater. Luck me.

On this day I was inspired by a friend who taught me that instead of selling "heritage" you have to take time to "make heritage" with those that matter most. Thanks Randi.

"Daddy, you home!!!!" Everyday she makes his day. Lucky Daddy.

I feel very lucky lately. Baby #4 is moving around and reminds me daily how lucky I am to have another sweet baby. I guess it is because of how sweet the other 3 are that I feel that way. They are such good kids. I am so glad they are mine.

Ryleigh Creates Valentine Book

Ryleigh just turned 8. She considers herself a “good writer.” When you ask her what she hopes to be when she grows up she answers, “A Heritage Maker like my mom.”

Last night she came to me with a project that she created.

It was a gift for me. As I read the pages and read all the reasons she loved me it brought tears to my eyes. To have your daughter think you are kind and good is the greatest gift a mother can have.

Then Ryleigh asked me if she could make it into a book like she and I did for Daddy at Christmas. I really didn’t have time to sit at the computer with her. I had sugar cookies that I had to make for the next day and dinner in the oven. So I looked through the template gallery and found one that would be perfect (thank goodness!) and I sat her at the computer and wished her well.

A little later that evening she announced she was done. I said, “The whole thing?”

Sure enough she had completed the whole book without one bit of help from me! Check it out at the bottom of this page or by clicking on the title above. Here is one of the sweet pages:

This was the best Valentine’s gift I ever received. I can’t see how anything could beat it. Not diamonds, or perfume, or even chocolate could beat this gift. Thank you Ryleigh. I will treasure this book forever. (I love you too).

How many shoes does a woman need?

All of these shoes were purchased in one wild weekend with my mother & sister.

Two of the boxes belong to my sister and the rest are my mothers!

They left me with a memory of a very good time at Nordstroms. I keep the stack of empty shoe boxes a monument.

If you think this is excessive then you should meet my aunt Elaine.

This is nothing.

Let me know if you need some shoe boxes.... until then I will just look at them and smile.

You are wondering why I didn't buy any shoes?

I tried. I didn't go down without a fight.
The sales men tried, I don't think he wants to see me for a while.
ALL the shoes were either too big or too small or I had that color.

My aunt would scold me, "Candace, you can have more than one pair of yellow shoes!"
I've not graduated to that level yet.

I'll get there.

Baptism Day

On Saturday February 7th, 2009 Ryleigh Ruth May was baptized a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day-Saints. She took on a covenant to always remember Jesus Christ and to try to be like him.

I had to tell a little bit about Ryleigh and I could barely talk as I was so overcome by emotion of how proud I am of my sweet daughter.

I told of her quick delivery (4 min. from car to delivery) her love of her family, her love of basketball, how she gets along with her friends, how she loves to serve her family and friends. I also told of how she was named after her great-grandmother and how she is much like her.

My sister and mom came to be with us on this special day.

It was a great day.

Thank you for coming Tessa, Kinsley, Corbin and Katie!

Watcha the T.B.

Recently Gabi started to say the family prayer. Today it went like this,

"Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for mommy, daddy, Teegee & Ryleigh. I lika to watcha the T.B..."

Age 2.5 is the cutest age on earth. She is so precious to watch. Even when Teague pushes her buttons and she screams a shrill scream to ward him off. Last night they played "Spider Baby" and Teague put his Spiderman mask on her head she chased him around.

This week is a good one. Trent is home (knee surgery recovery), my mom, sister, nephew and dad are coming to visit!

I am really enjoying Heritage Makers. I am currently working on our 2007 family album and a book about my dad and a book about my grandma Ruth. I enjoy working with my clients who are friends and who are doing fun projects too.

Trent takes Teague & Ryleigh skating a couple times a week. They are getting really good. Teague just learned to skate backwards and crossovers.

Ryleigh is getting baptised on Sat. Here she is in the dress her Grandma bought for her as a little gift.
